Keeping The World Safe Starts Where You Are.

As humans, we all have a set of basic needs for survival. We start with basic biological requirements like food, shelter and sleep. Once the physiological needs are satisfied, we look for safety and security. In 2020, our safety needs have been constantly challenged. With COVID threats and uncertainty looming everywhere, it’s easy to see how we’ve slid back down Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs to a basic level.

People who choose vocations to protect, serve and preserve community safety are both heroic and noble. The world needs people like this now more than ever. It’s an incredibly rewarding career and it just happens to be the philosophy of our consultant Halim in France. As a facility manager, he is responsible for the security, maintenance and continuous operations of a colossal chemical plant. Let’s explore what makes Halim’s role so rewarding.

Minimizing risks with thorough planning.

Working in a Seveso process plant comes with a myriad of underlying challenges. Managing and predicting interactions and mitigating potential risks is critical to create a safe work environment for all workers. “I see myself as a hotel caretaker. Everyone asks me to take care of their needs at the same time. I need to work hard to meet my team’s needs, while prioritizing safety. The big difference is that each decision I make carries serious risks”, Halim shares.

Putting people first above all else.

Making people’s lives better is what drives Halim to excel. Aligning safety standards with employee behaviour in complex environments isn’t always easy. Driving change always requires a tremendous amount of energy. But when your role is personally fulfilling, the workload feels lighter. “Improving the quality of life for people at work is really something I’m proud of,” he states.

Channelling powers of observation to be proactive.

Keeping an open mind and taking the time to carefully watch what’s happening around you creates a lot of clues. Problems lie dormant in many areas. Sometimes they are difficult to spot and even more difficult to solve. Being tenacious and creative is critical when it comes to thinking differently. This is the best piece of advice Halim would like to share with young professionals: “A solutions mindset will always make you a winner in every situation. Being a leader means solving problems before they occur and committing to pushing the status quo to engineer an optimal solution.”

Let your personality shape your destiny.

Everyone has different talents, skills and motivations. When considering our career paths, it’s important to take these personal elements into consideration. Halim was always inspired to help others and felt a natural instinct to look out for their well being. “Easy Skill cared enough to discover my unidentified potential. This is exactly how I envisioned working with a talent partner and how inspires my approach for my own staffing decisions in the future,” Halim expressed.

Connecting people with opportunities is our mission.

At Easy Skill we genuinely enjoy meeting new people and figuring out what makes them tick. This step is critical to our ability to understand how to connect candidates with the right opportunities that help them reach their true potential. Helping people find their happy work places enables them to excel professionally and also helps companies to boost their internal capabilities. Building super teams is our super power and together we can achieve more.
