After exploring the world off the beaten path throughout southern Asia, Mathilde genuinely knew in her heart that there was more to discover. More than just seeking an adventure, Mathilde appreciates experiencing people and places on deeper level. In order to really immerse herself in a new land, an international career was the logical choice. And this is what compelled her to reach out to Easy Skill two years ago.
Easy Skill was in the midst of launching into Southern Australia and Mathilde had the right experience to get the job done. As we like to say, it was the perfect match - the right fit in the right place at the right time. The challenge was ambitious and Mathilde was eager to lay a solid foundation. "Exciting opportunities are hard to find for foreigners without support like company sponsorship. I feel grateful for that!” Mathilde shared.
After spending one year in Adelaide building the business, an opportunity arose to go to Noumea, New Caledonia. The business unit was ready for business development muscles to capture some of the upcoming major projects on the island. “I was excited for the opportunity to experience a new country again and apply what I’d learned in a new environment to drive success in a new market”, expressed Mathilde.
Each country and city bring a different dynamic when it comes to cultural experiences and work-life balance. Mathilde is enamoured with the lifestyle in New Caledonia and is curious about all of the new things to discover. She’s constantly learning and will always find joy in curiosity. As a sports enthusiast and nature lover, Noumea is a dream come true. “I was lucky enough to visit New Caledonia for a company event in 2019 and I was hooked. Even after living here for a year now, I can tell that there are still many places to discover in NC”, confessed Mathilde.
Although there’s always been a steady flow of professionals moving in and out of the island, the borders closures are changing the game. As Mathilde said, “This is the perfect opportunity for us to focus on consultant loyalty and creating the ideal consultant experience.” Businesses in New Caledonia are still operating at high volumes and they need local talent to ensure continuous performance. The pandemic has reprioritized availability ahead of expertise and having a local Easy Skill office is a competitive advantage when it comes to driving engagement for both consultants and clients.
Energy transition is a hot topic for many regions and especially for New Caledonia. The island has set ambitious goals to become energy self-sufficient in the next decade (for domestic use). The government has just mandated to install the infrastructure for an extra 130 Megawatts from clean energy sources locally, so we are anticipating an influx of investors to drive the development of renewable energy projects. To support the country and local communities, Easy Skill has begun to identify the right workforce experts to lead the change and contribute to the successful growth of alternative energy initiatives.
