Sometimes we win the lottery or at least stumble into good fortune. We’ll let you in on a little secret called New Caledonia. It’s ideally located in the southern hemisphere right between Australia and New Zealand with the perfect tropical climate. Easy Skill specializes in bridging the gap between technical talent and leading companies. Our consultants working in the Northern part of New Caledonia are currently enjoying the good life with winter temperatures from 17-24°.
If we compare the Caledonian cold season with winter in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s safe to say that living here feels like summer all year round! It’s not to say you won’t feel a gentle breeze from time to time, but you’ll never see the snow. If you like it hot, New Caledonia just might be for you.
The quality of life here is amazing. It’s the right balance between personal fulfilment, the environment you’re living in and your daily routine at work. But don’t take our word for it. Let us introduce you to Max, an Easy Skill consultant, who has found his ideal middle ground of satisfaction in all areas of life.
Max originally moved from France to New Caledonia with his wife and their two cats to experience life on the other side. It was a fair effort to bring pets on a journey across the globe, but it is possible! Just ask Max. Life between a mountain range and a lagoon, that’s also listed as UNESCO world heritage site, is breath-taking. The landscapes you take in across the Caledonian Northern Province are unique and astounding.
“Every weekend, people enjoy many outdoor activities like water sports, jet ski, boat trips on small islands, horseback riding, hiking, or even go to the shooting range!“
Max was hired by Easy Skill as a Procurement Officer on the industrial plant in the Caledonian Northern Province. Meeting the needs between quality requirements and market demands on large-scale projects such as the shutdown phases, makes his daily routine different every day and incredibly exciting.
“When my Easy Skill Business Manager reached out to me with this opportunity, I saw it as a good career booster, allowing me to expand my skill, experience and professional network in a whole new environment.”
Fitting into a new culture comes with surprises too. Max came across a few cultural differences in Caledonia. Being able to adapt to the local community is extremely important to be successful. Communication is the biggest difference. The culture of the spoken word has always been a unique element of the local culture.
“Local expressions like « Oleti » to say Thank you or «Tata Bisous » as a friendly goodbye are very common practices and all things I need to learn,” shared Max.
Max pictures himself staying in New Caledonia for the few years to come. He’s really enjoying the challenges of the industrial sites here and the ability to learn new skills. With a serious appetite for professional development, Max is open to exploring new professional opportunities in other countries.
